The promotion launched in June 2013 during the lead-up to implementation of major reforms, such as health insurance exchanges and the individual mandate.

On July 12, 2013, President Obama called CEO Greg Wasson to personally thank Walgreens for creating the microsite as a non-partisan source for information about the Affordable Care Act.
